Graduate Design Engineer (Civil /Structural) - Permanent - Full Time
Optima Scaffold Designs LLP are a leading UK based scaffold design consultancy, based in
Bristol and London, covering the UK and Channel Islands. We are currently expanding due to continuous growth and are seeking to add another Scaffold Designer to the team. Whilst the Essential Skills
are laid out below, no previous experience in Scaffold Design is required to apply for this role, all required training will be provided. This is position is open for continual
consideration.
Essential Skills:
- BEng/BSc (Hons) or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Strong mathematical, numerical, written, and verbal communication
skills.
- Proficiency in use of 2D CAD and structural analysis software.
- Ability to produce, read and understand complex engineering drawings with a strong
attention to detail.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel, and
Outlook.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other design Engineers both
face to face and remotely.
- A full clean UK driving licence.
- Punctual and reliable, with a strong work ethic and receptive to constructive
feedback.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of detailed Scaffold Design drawings using
AutoCAD.
- Production of supporting calculations using both structural analysis packages and hand
calculation to prove designs are structurally safe and compliant.
- Production of detailed Risk Assessments to identify potential hazards and implement
appropriate safety measures in the scaffold design to mitigate risks.
- Complete work in a timely manner, whilst managing numerous on-going projects at any one
time.
- Conduct site surveys to discuss project requirements with customers and gather necessary
information.
- Collaborate with external site based and office-based clients and colleagues to ensure
the scaffolding design aligns with project goals, timelines, and safety requirements.
- The role is predominantly office based but there will be the opportunity for some level
of remote working on completion of initial training.
